Welcome to La Honda
A diverse area with sprawling woodland areas and grassy hillsides.
This small, tight-knit community is located in San Mateo County and has about 1,000 residents living in the area.
First discovered in 1861, it was a summer destination for many San Francisco residents looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. In 1961, it was “rediscovered” by Ken Kelsey who is best known for being a novelist, with books such as One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest authored by him, and a countercultural figure who was oftentimes seen as the “link” to bridge the generational gap between those from the 1950’s to 1960’s. Other notable residents include Neil Young, one of the most influential songwriters and guitarists of his generation.
La Honda is now comprised of small businesses, restaurants, shops, and homes spread throughout the sprawling landscape with many tourists and locals alike flocking to the area for the annual La Honda Fair & Music Festival each June, and more.
